The Paris Book Fair -since 1981 during the French spring- picks a different country each year as its special guest. On 2011, for the first time, a city was invited: Buenos Aires.
As a chamaleon with its multiple colour skins, Buenos Aires changes many times for those who are looking at it. In every story, in every novel, in every song, in every stage the city shows another profile. Maybe, that variety was the reason why Buenos Aires was chosen for the section City to city of the Toronto International Film Festival, Canada.
The year is long and there is much work to do: rehearsals, routines, designs, sewing. However, finally, everything is ready to come on stage. With February, carnival appears too: hundreds of “murgas” (as localx call the carnival street bands) show what they do. In other words, they display their group energy, their joy of being together and their happiness in movement.
